News Update

Good Day fellow Guilders!

I have quite a bit of news I wish to convey over to all the great and wonderful players of out community.

Zomby6
As some of you may already know, Zomby6, a Server Administrator and Head of Staff resigned a week ago. Originally joining Mineguild in the beginning, Zomby has been a part of our community through all its up times and downs. He has been a great inspiration to the server, and to the players.

Due to the personal work load he is currently experiencing with his studies, he had to make the choice to leave us behind -- and although he will not be an active part of our community, you will still be able to see him online from time to time!

I wish him all the best for his endeavours in the future!


Staff Manager
As per my previous announcement - it gives me great pleasure to announce that iiPoseidon will be taking over all staff related issues, and hiring. Any problems with staff, or issues related to such -- can now be directed to the (Insert Glitter) Server Administrator, iiPoseidon.

Crafting Bug
Yes ... the bug we have been trying to find for the last 2 months; has finally been fixed.

I must give a thanks to iiPoseidon for his great work, in digging out the bug report for this and finding the root of the problem! We can now officially confirm that this bug has been fixed, and I would just like to thank you all for your cooperation and understanding!

Rules Revision
The new rules are taking slightly longer to get through than I originally announced. I must apologise for this, as it has to do with very limited time on my side due to my current work load; I will be getting around to these very shortly and an announcement will be accordingly made.

Review of New Rules - 2.0.Draft

Please be advised that from 5 May 2013 12h00 until 12 May 2013 11h59 a document has been posted for public review.

The document in question is a set of new governing rules to the Mineguild community. These rules are currently under review, and as such we ask all our members to please be familiar with them, and any disputes, changes or additions must be addressed in the topic link below.

Please note that if your disputes are not posted about before the closing date and time, they can not be addressed. Please see to it that if you have any disputes that they are posted about as soon as possible.

Teamspeak Termination

Good day fellow Mineguilders.

Unfortunately I have the dissatisfaction of bestowing bad news upon our community today, in that we have taken the decision to shut down the official Team Speak channel for Mineguild.

Though some of you use this service every day, and as much as we love giving you as many perks as we can - sometimes such decisions are necessary.

To give a brief explanation as to the reason for this decision - we have opted to shut down the service due to the continued abuse from older players with regards to sexually explicit discussions and other R rated topics. Mineguild is a Family Rated server, and we take pride in looking after our younger players. Parents bestow a large amount of trust on us and our staff to protect their children when online - and this is something we take very seriously. Since we are unable to provide the guarantee of safety to these people anymore that their children will be safe online, we therefore chose to discontinue our Team Speak services.

Please be advised that no other services will be affected by this termination. Mineguild will still continue to operate as per usual, and our forums will still be here to talk to each other. These mediums of communication are still highly monitored by our amazing team of staff, and we can guarantee that all content is filtered to the best of our ability ensuring that our younger players are always kept safe online from such content.

In light of the termination of our channel, I would like to more than welcome our players to offer unofficial team speak channels. But please note, that I can not guarantee that the content in these channels will meet up to our quality and standards and therefore any use of 3rd party communication does not fall into the jurisdiction of Mineguild or its staff. I would also like to point out that channels may be shared with players via Personal Message only, and not via our Forums or in the games Global Channel. We are currently in the process of revising our rules and regulations, and will include more specific rules to the use of 3rd party communication for our server.

Once again, I thank you all for your continued support - and hope that one day, I will have the privilege of reinstating Team Speak as a service to the Mineguild Community.

Technical Difficulties

We are currently experiencing a problem with our billing and members system. These outages are affecting a large portion of our user base. We currently in the process of working with the development team to fix the issue, and will report back shortly once the issue has been resolved.

For those experiencing issues, please be patient - we hope to have this issue fixed soon.

Email System

We have had an ongoing issue with our mailing system for quite a while now, however after today the system has been upgraded and will now be using an external SMTP server to send all the mail. Please note that if you previously registered for the forums, and have not yet received any verification or have been missing out on your digests, you should be receiving mail over the next 24 hours.

Once the backlog has been processed, email delivery should take under 30 seconds.

I would like to apologise for the problems that this may have caused all of you.

Trailer Festival Results!

Here is the thing you have all been waiting for! The results of the trailer competition, how exciting!
I understand a lot of you have been anxiously waiting for them, and yes I have taken my sweet time in deciding and going over the entries but I had to make sure all of them follow the rules.
I tried to be as fair as you can expect of me, and judged all the entries equally, no matter on who made them. So without further delay here are the results!

First place:

ZeSandvichMann

This one was a hard decision to make, both first and second place feature entries that are really strong in their own ways. But I personally believe this one prevailed with it's simplicity. It shows off the server builds perfectly and somehow captures it's spirit.

Prize: Upgrade to the next rank, 40K in game cash and use of the trailer as the official MG trailer (with permission of course)

Second place:

mojo188

As I mentioned previously, this one was a really strong contender for first place, and I can attribute it with all the good qualities I attributed the winning video with, but the thing that put me off was the flying/appearing text.

Prize: 30K in game cash and the trailer featured on our Facebook page

Third place:

axe2760

This video was a very creative one but it looked slightly rushed, if I know Axe at all I know he is capable of much greater things and I am sure he will show them in the future

Prize: 15K in game cash and featured on our Facebook page

I do apologise for the lack of links to the videos but it would seem that the website does not want to budge and will not allow me to add all of the videos, but if you click on the contestants name you will be taken to their video

Additionally I have already distributed the cash prizes in game

Staff applications - open

I would like to inform you all that I have decided to reopen staff applications. This means that everyone who wishes to apply can now apply again.

I would like to point out that I will be even harsher on these application, so you better make them the best application you have ever written. They must show your personality above everything else. Try to copy others as little as possible, in gist make it your own, something that you will be proud off and something that will make me excited to hire you.

Mineguild Trailer Competition

EDIT: Due to the problems with the website I am extending the competition till the 27th of January.

We here at MineGuild are very proud of our server. We are also very proud of our Architects and Designers that make buildings that make our jaws drop. You would not believe how many times I go to these builds for inspiration, not just when I'm building something in minecraft, but also when I need inspiration in other fields of life. Each of these buildings has a story behind it and each of these buildings has it's own style.

Over the next week, we will be running a video competition. But not just any video competition, oh no. It is a special video competition. A competition like no other we hosted before. It is a competition to showcase the builds of the server. Below this long and boring intro is a list of rules that you must follow in order to participate and further instructions on how to enter.

Basic Run down of the competition:

• Opens: Now
• Closes: Sunday 27 January 2013 at 21:00 UTC+2 (CEST)
• Topic: Cinematic showcase of the various builds
• Prizes
  
  • First Place: Rank upgrade  (unless the upgrade would be to Infinite), $40K Game Cash, with the creators permission and full credit video uploaded to our Youtube and our Facebook page
  • Second Place: $30K Game Cash, with permission video featured on our Facebook page
  • Third Place: $15K Game Cash, with permission video featured on out Facebook page
• Submission of Videos: Videos can only be uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo. The description must include a link to the server mc.mu and the website www.mineguid.com as well as your in game name and most importantly a description about your video!
• How many entries may I submit: As many as you want!
• Who can enter: Anyone, if there is a team applying with a video, the first place prize will not include the rank upgrade

Additional competition rules:

• Video must be shot in a way that portrays the best qualities of the build
• Applicant can choose to portray one or more Designer or Architect builds in the video. But must get the owners permission before filming (unless you are filming inside spawn walls. This includes Spawn, Lantea, Simpleton)
• You are not allowed to include builds by banned players
• All post production techniques are allowed
• Also allowed are texture packs, camera mods, shaders
• If your computer does not permit video capturing, you are permitted to make a slideshow of pictures, but the judging will be harsher (it must still be uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo)
• You are not allowed to use any copyright material, if copyright material is found in the application or video, you will be disqualified
• All submissions must be done by making a new topic on the appropriate competition sub-forum
• Application must be submitted in the format stated on the competition forum page

Website Downtime

Welcome back!

Our hosting centre experienced a bit of downtime after a major hardware failure. This took the website down for just over 24 hours, while new components were ordered in to replace the damaged ones.

The website is now restored and fully functioning. Enjoy
